POME Processing with Bioremediation Using Indigenous Bacteria (Bacillus toyonensis and Stenotrophomonas rhizophila), Electrocoagulation, and Bioremediation assisted with Electrocoagulation Methods

Palm oil mill effluent (POME) is wastewater containing dissolved materials with concentrations above the threshold. Generally, POME processing in Indonesia uses an open pond system. It less efficient because it requires large areas and causing greenhouse gas effects. This research aims to improve processing, three methods were studied; bioremediation using enrich indigent lypholitics bacteria (Bacillus toyonensis Stenotrophomonas rhizophila.), electrocoagulation system, combination of those methods. The parameters measured fat contents, COD, pH, TSS, TDS, Fe Cu metals. In method, electrodes used iron a variation electrical voltage 1.5, 3, 4.5 6 V. results removal -74.62%, COD -52.44%, TSS -43.11% pH 6.38 at incubation time for days, TDS 21.42%, -5.3% -64.70%. -93.27%, was -85.71%, -39%, -84%, -46%, +92.35%, 11.39 V h. two can reduce levels by -87.39%, -56.70%, -0.42%, +15.88%, -23.33%, +93.74% 8.82. studied significantly.
